Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and platforms that support analytics, reporting, and data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise, a passion for data architecture, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while collaborating closely with data scientists, analysts, and product teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and efficient data pipelines (batch and streaming).
- Build and optimize data architectures, including data lakes, data warehouses, and ETL/ELT processes.
- Ensure data quality, reliability, security, and governance across all data systems.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
- Optimize database performance and query efficiency.
- Implement best practices for data modeling, version control, testing, and monitoring.
- Lead technical discussions, conduct code reviews, and mentor junior data engineers.
- Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies, and architectural improvements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex data issues in production environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python, Scala, or Java).
- Hands-on experience with data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
- Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Airflow, dbt, Spark, or similar.
- Solid understanding of data modeling, distributed systems, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Experience with both structured and unstructured data.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with real-time/streaming data technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, Pub/Sub).
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Knowledge of data governance, privacy, and compliance standards.
- Prior experience in mentoring or technical leadership roles.
